A Psalm of David.
“The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack. He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him – not for my earning it, but] for His name ‘s sake. Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over. Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.” (AMP)
~Psalm 23
My Loving Father,
Thank you for this opportunity to walk on this life’s amazing journey with You by my side. I do not know where you will lead me, but I am willing to follow You with anticipation and quickening pace. Knowing that You know the way is enough for me so that I would follow you wholeheartedly whether through valleys deep or through mountains steep and high. I would walk by faith and not by sight for I know that the mysteries of your gifts though not seen by mortal eyes are very real and you are the invisible Shepherd of my soul. I trust You, Father, so that even if my eyes are open to what is all around me my faith looks up to you securely focused on Your sweet and never changing promises.
I am ready now, My Lord, though only Your hand I see to hold me along the way. The storms of life may beat my soul and the winds of adversity gather my eyes are fixed on the goal. I know that where you’ll lead me are mountain heights where the higher I go the better the views may become; and the clearer the separation from the world with all of its burdens where I bathe in Your glorious Light, the reality of Your Presence. As You have promised that if I believe I would see wonderful things too glorious to my eyes which I haven’t seen before that would bear me up on wings of your grace as I go back down to be with the souls that you love, the souls that You have entrusted to me. Oh Father, let Your Light continue to shine within me as I walk among these precious souls that You love. Amen.
